STUDENT MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Steadfast Leaders with a Heart for the Community

Values Education- CCE@JYSS

The Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) aims to inculcate values and build social and emotional competencies in students. This in turn is to develop Junyuanites into good individuals and useful citizens in a fast changing and globalised world. It develops students through an understanding of the values that define the Singapore society, inspiring them to show concern about the world they live in, and demonstrate empathy in their relationships with others. Students will learn values through three overarching ideas, namely (Identity, Relationships and Choices in six domains, starting with self and extending to the family, school, community, nation and the world. The diagram below shows the Core Values, the 3 Big Ideas and the Expanding Domains in the CCE syllabus:

CCE_web1

“Mark my actions” is a scheme to recognize students who demonstrate the school’s 5 core values: Excellence, Innovation, Responsibility, Respect and Resilience. The school’s owl mascot on the magnetic bookmarks seeks to remind students to aim to demonstrate the school values aligned to Values Education consistently.

Through key school programmes and activities, students are given opportunities to demonstrate the values. Upon completion of these programmes and activities, students would receive the respective bookmark. The colours of these bookmarks are the school’s 5 house colours.

The bookmarks would be presented by the Form Teachers to the students on the last day of school.
